Meg McDevitt grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania. Her childhood evolved around art and books; her father was an artist and a teacher. She was always looking. She was often making. As a teenager, Meg always carried a camera and a sketchbook and initially studied at Bucks County Community College where she became seriously engaged in making art. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Cooper Union In New York City.
After Meg got out of undergraduate school, she had the opportunity to come to Vermont and be on staff at the Vermont Studio Center.
She went on to graduate school and received a master’s degree from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. After graduating Meg moved back to Vermont and the Studio Center and took a position teaching at The University of Vermont. She feels fortunate and grateful to have been able to spend the last 25 years living in Johnson and teaching at UVM.
